The January of 2015 (The morning that I recalled 56 times)

Photography, ash, glass

Variable dimension

"When you are remembering a certain event, you are actually remembering the last time you remember it, not the event itself."

I photographed a photo from my favourite trip to Melbourne to make a copy of it. Then I photographed the copy to make a new copy. I repeated the process of photographing copies 56 times until the image changed from precise to blurred, from detailed to abstract, eventually leaving only a large piece of blue. All the previous 55 photos of copies were burnt into ash, which was placed in the photo frame and also used as an easily erasable medium to hold the transferred passage that described the original image on a piece of glass.
